Volume 1 · Before you begin
Get your gear.
You don't need much. Five things — most of which you already have. Get these in place and you'll be ready to start Day 1 with nothing in your way.
Claude (claude.ai) or ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) — both have free tiers that are more than enough. This is your thinking partner for the course. You'll use it to explore ideas, get feedback on your writing, have concepts explained a different way, and debate arguments. It's not a shortcut — it's a collaborator. Set up an account before Day 1.
New to AI? Full setup guide and how to use it well →Physical or digital — it genuinely doesn't matter. A composition notebook, a spiral pad, Notion, Apple Notes, a plain text file. What matters is that it's dedicated to this. One place where your notes, questions, and reflections from this course live. Don't mix it with other things. Pick something you'll actually use and stick with it.
Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or even a plain text editor. You'll write a lot in this course — short responses, essays, reflections, arguments. Keep a running document somewhere you can always find it. Google Docs is recommended because it's free, accessible anywhere, and easy to share if you want feedback.
This isn't a tool — it's a decision. Each lesson takes roughly one hour. The curriculum is designed to be daily, and it only works if you treat it that way. Pick a time that fits your life — morning, lunch, evening — and protect it. You don't need more than an hour. You just need to show up consistently. That's the whole system.
You already have this — that's why you're here. The course will challenge you and occasionally confuse you. That's the point. Bring questions. Sit with things you don't understand. Look things up. The best students aren't the ones who already know the answers. They're the ones who can't stop asking why.
That's the complete list. No tuition. No enrollment. No textbooks to buy. Just show up with these five things and you're ready.
You're ready.
Everything is in place. Open Day 1 and begin.
